Usher Addresses Justin Bieber’s Absence From His Super Bowl Halftime Show Performance

Usher Addresses Justin Bieber's Absence From His Super Bowl Halftime Show Performance

Usher recently addressed the absence of Justin Bieber from his Super Bowl Halftime Show performance after many fans anticipated a live reunion of the collaborators.

Speaking on The Breakfast Club, the Coming Home artist clarified that he has no hard feelings against Biebs for choosing not to participate. “It didn’t work out with Justin,” Usher shared. “I honor and recognize that my brother, I think that it might’ve been the fact that he’s just wanting to tell a different story right now. And I understand that.” He also went on to say that he believes Bieber “deserves” to and will one day headline the Super Bowl Halftime Show, and that they’re “gonna do something else in the future,” adding, “No love lost or anything like that. It’s a lot of pressure for the Super Bowl, obviously.”

Prior to Usher’s appearance on The Breakfast Club, Lil Jon — who performed their hit “Yeah!” at the Super Bowl, told TMZ that the commitment needed for a performance like that was a lot for Bieber, who suffers from Ramsay Hunt syndrome and has since stopped performing. “That’s a lot of rehearsal, a lot of responsibility, a lot of time and a lot of eyeballs and I don’t know if he was ready to do all that,” the rapper stated. “But he definitely was there supporting Usher and they are really good friends and he definitely was supporting him regardless.”
