Twisters, the long-gestating sequel to 1996’s Twister, has received its first trailer. Watch it below.
Beginning with a thrilling chase scene between a car and an encroaching tornado, the trailer introduces us to the film’s ensemble cast, led by Daisy Edgar-Jones, Glen Powell, and Anthony Ramos. Interlaced between shots of epic storms, we then get glimpses of everything from a love story to literal “twin tornados” to end-of-the-world level destruction and more, with the thrill of the chase prominently featured throughout.
The plot relays the story of Kate Cooper (Edgar-Jones), a former storm chaser lured back into the field by her friend, Javi (Ramos), to test a new tracking system. Encountering a reckless counterpart who’s become a social media superstar (Powell), Cooper soon finds herself in a historic disaster: a never-before-seen convergence of tornados over central Oklahoma.
Directed by Lee Isaac Chung (Minari) off a screenplay by Mark L. Smith (The Revenant), Twisters’ ensemble cast will also feature Brandon Perea, Daryl McCormack, Kiernan Shipka, and David Corenswet.
