Billy Joel has returned with his first new music since 2007. Last week, the singer announced he would be releasing an original single called “Turn The Lights Back On,” now officially out for streaming.
It’s hard to believe Joel hasn’t put out music for over a decade and a half. His last project was the 2001 classical LP, Fantasies & Delusions, while his last single releases arrived in 2007 “All My Life” and “Christmas In Fallujah.”
Prior to that, Joel put out River Of Dreams in 1993. Most of his music that’s popular today was released throughout the 1970s and 1980s, so suffice to say, a new single is quite the occasion.
For “Turn The Lights Back On,” Joel tapped pop music producer Freddy Wexler. The song was co-written by Joel alongside Wexler, Arthur Bacon and Wayne Hector.
