Yamaha has created a tool for DJs and producers to be able to work 24/7, whether on a plane or curating tunes for a party. The audio company has unveiled the SEQTRAK, a miniature “music creation station” about the size of a portable keyboard.
The SEQTRAK isn’t billed towards any particular type of production but rather offers a variety of electronic music-making functions. Within the board is a synthesizer, mixer, sequencer and sound design and effects module.
The board itself is divided into a section for drums, another for synth and sampling and a third for effects and design. A user can make music with hands on controls and play with up to seven sounds at a time.
For those seeking to sample and record in real-time, the SEQTRAK has a built-in microphone and speaker, along with two sound engines and its own sound library of over 2,000 presets. It doesn’t have to be plugged in either with a rechargeable battery and overall lightweight build, though it can connect to other devices either by Bluetooth or USB-C.
The SEQTRAK is available in black and orange colorways for $599 USD on the Yamaha website.
