How to watch Oppenheimer on streaming

Great news for movie buffs who need regular bathroom breaks: Oppenheimer is finally about to blow up streaming. After its, er, explosive opening weekend over the summer, the three-hour Christopher Nolan war drama will soon be able to stream from the comfort of home. Check out all the details below about how to transport yourself to the Los Alamos Laboratory.

When Will I Be Able to Stream Oppenheimer?

Oppenheimer will stream exclusively on Peacock beginning on February 16th. The film is also currently available to purchase on Blu-ray, DVD, and in 4K — which Nolan himself recommends if you want each bomb test to sound as authentic as possible.

How Can I Stream Oppenheimer for Free?

Beginning on February 16th, Oppenheimer will stream on Peacock. Subscription plans for Peacock start $5.99 a month.

What is Oppenheimer About?

Based on the 2005 biography American Prometheus by Kai Bird and Martin J. Sherwin, Oppenheimer stars Cillian Murphy as “father of the atomic bomb” J. Robert Oppenheimer. The film follows his quest to develop the first atomic bomb as part of the Manhattan Project in a race against Russia during World War II, up to his 1954 security hearing by the United States Atomic Energy Commission (AEC) questioning his loyalty and potential ties to the Community Party.

Oppenheimer‘s packed cast also stars Emily Blunt as Oppenheimer’s wife Kitty, Matt Damon as head of the Manhattan Project Leslie Groves, Florence Pugh as Oppenheimer’s covert lover Jean Tatlock, Robert Downey Jr. as AEC member Lewis Strauss, and many more.

In addition to Consequence crowning it one of the Best Films of the Year, Oppenheimer also blew up the box office, netting $176.1 million its opening weekend — thanks in part to the “Barbenheimer” phenomenon. Last weekend, Oppenheimer also earned a whopping five Golden Globes including for Best Original Score, written by our 2023 Composer of the Year Ludwig Göransson.

Where Can I Stream Christopher Nolan’s Other Films?

In addition to Oppenheimer, Variety points out that Peacock will host a handful of other Nolan-directed films beginning February 1st: Batman Begins, The Dark Knight, The Dark Knight Rises, Dunkirk, Inception, and Memento. Currently, all of those and more Nolan hits are available to rent or buy on platforms like Amazon, Apple TV, and Vudu.
