Lil Nas X is the subject of the upcoming HBO Original documentary Lil Nas X: Long Live Montero.
Premiering January 27, the docu follows the young artist as he prepares for his “Long Live Montero” tour — his first ever headlining US engagement. “With unparalleled access, the film follows the genre-breaking artist on a personal journey of self-investigation and discovery as he creates, rehearses, and performs nightly in front of his legions of devoted fans,” the synopsis reads.
Long Live Montero is described as a “verité-style film” split in three parts: Rebirth, Transformation and Becoming, mirroring Nas X’s stage show. The documentary will deliver “unparalleled access” to the artist as he attempts to navigate his life during his meteoric rise, all the while also exploring his own queer identity, complicated familial relationships and his want to become a driving force for self-expression and acceptance.
Stay tuned for an official trailer. Lil Nas X: Long Live Montero premieres January 27 on HBO and Max.
