The Weeknd is reportedly working on another big entertainment project, this time for the big screens. While not much is known about the untitled film, reports have indicated that The Weeknd will be co-writing and starring in the upcoming project alongside Wednesday‘s Jenna Ortega and Saltburn‘s Barry Keoghan.
All that is known about the upcoming film is that it is directed by Trey Edward Shults and is his first since 2019’s indie Waves. While this feature scored well with critics and audiences, it failed to recoup its $6 million USD budget. With The Weeknd, Ortega and Keoghan linked to his next project, Shults’ 2024 is shaping up. Ortega has had a massive 2023 with the debut of Wednesday and her role in Scream VI. Keoghan is also coming off a much-anticipated A24 release while The Weeknd is still moving through the motions of critical disaster, The Idol.
The Ortega, Keoghan and The Weeknd-led film is set to hit silver screens later this year. Much is left in the unknown at the moment. Stay tuned for more details on the plot and release.
