Golden State Warriors forward Draymond Green won’t be seen on the court anytime soon. The power forward has been suspended indefinitely after hitting Phoenix Suns center Jusuf Nurkić in the face.
The incident occurred during the third quarter of the Warriors’ loss to the Suns on Tuesday, December 12 at Phoenix’s Footprint Center. Green was served with a flagrant 2 foul, which defines conduct committed against another player to be “unnecessary and excessive.”
The news was shared by NBA Executive Vice President, Head of Basketball Operations, Joe Dumars, who an outcome that “takes into account Green’s repeated history of unsportsmanlike acts.”
Warriors GM Mike Dunleavy Jr. and agent Rich Paul are expected to meet Thursday to plan “a path of counseling and assistance for Green to move forward,” ESPN reported. According to the publication, “the league avoided putting a specific number on the suspension to allow Green time to deal with the challenges he’s facing.”
Green’s latest suspension is effective immediately and he’ll be required to meet “certain league and team conditions” before he’s allowed to play.
