Slipknot to celebrate 25th anniversary of self-titled album on 2024 tour

Slipknot to celebrate 25th anniversary of self-titled album on 2024 tour

Slipknot will embark on a 2024 tour to celebrate the 25th anniversary of their classic 1999 self-titled album. The band has just announced a run of UK/European dates in addition to their previously reported US festival appearances.

The masked band teased the tour over the weekend with a cryptic video titled “Here Comes the Pain” on its social channels (watch below), showing classic footage of the metal act in concert. The UK/European tour kicks off in late 2024 on December 5th in Amsterdam, and runs through a December 20th show in London, with tickets available here. Bleed From Within will provide support.

“It has been 25 years since we first played on the continent, and we’ve been back ever since,” said percussionist Shawn “Clown” Crahan via Metal Hammer. “The memories I have from all those times are life changing, and we’re ready to make more. I’m so excited to bring our 25 year Anniversary tour to Europe and the UK. Be prepared for an energy you’ve never experienced before. It’s happening.”

The self-titled 1999 effort — which Slipknot consider to be their proper debut despite 1996’s self-released Mate. Feed. Kill. Repeat. — launched the band to superstardom. The LP includes favorites like “Wait and Bleed,” “Surfacing,” and “Spit It Out,” which remain staples in Slipknot’s setlists to this day.

With the recent lineup changes in Slipknot, only five of the nine band members from the self-titled era remain, including Clown, Corey Taylor, Mick Thomson, Jim Root, and Sid Wilson. Recently, the band let go of drummer Jay Weinberg, who had replaced Joey Jordison nearly 10 years ago. A new drummer has not yet been revealed.

In addition to the UK/European leg, Slipknot has Spring 2024 gigs scheduled at the US festivals Sick New World, Welcome to Rockville, and Sonic Temple. Tickets for those fests are available here.

For the 25th anniversary tour, the band has set up a website at YouCantKillMe.com that looks straight out of 1999, including references to Netscape and Internet Explorer.

Prior to Slipknot’s dates, Corey Taylor will embark on an early 2024 North American tour with his solo band, as he continues to support his recent album, CMF2.
