Nicki Minaj‘s Pink Friday 2 officially set a new Spotify record and is currently on track for a No. 1 debut on next week’s Billboard 200.
The artist announced the Spotify news on X by sharing an announcement from Chart Data, which noted that Pink Friday 2’s estimated 41 million streams from the weekend has made set the record for the biggest debut for a female hip-hop album in the streamer’s history. Chart Data also revealed that the album is now eligible for a gold certification from the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) after selling at least 500,000 units in the United States.
In addition, HITS Daily Double is projecting a No. 1 Billboard 200 debut for Pink Friday 2 with 170,000 to 190,000 equivalent album units in its first week. If the forecasts are correct, this will mark the biggest female rap debut for 2023.
