Lana Del Rey has returned with a cover of the John Denver 1971 classic, “Take Me Home, Country Roads.” The single arrives as her second one-off release following her ninth studio LP, Did you know that there’s a tunnel under Ocean Blvd.
“Almost heaven, West Virginia / Blue Ridge Mountains, Shenandoah River,” she sings in the opening. “Life is old there, older than the trees / Younger than the mountains, growin’ like a breeze.”
In May, Del Rey dropped “Say Yes to Heaven,” a song that had been created years earlier and leaked onto streaming platforms but hadn’t been officially released by the singer herself.
She also collaborated with her father, Rob Grant, on the song “Hollywood Bowl” for his debut album Lost at Sea.
Other collaborations throughout 2023 include a track with Bleachers and a song with Irish singer Holly Macve.
