Timothée Chalamet has been announced as the host of Saturday Night Live’s November 11th episode alongside musical guest boygenius.
Chalamet will host the show despite the ongoing SAG-AFTRA strike. So far this season, SNL booked a pair of comedians, Pete Davidson and Nate Bargaze, and musician Bad Bunny to top-line its episodes.
Chalamet’s SNL appearance comes ahead of his starring role in the Wonka prequel, which is set to hit theaters on December 15th. Another one of his upcoming features, Dune: Part Two, was moved from November 2023 to March 2024 due to the strike. As long as Chalamet doesn’t promote these projects during his SNL appearance, he will not be in violation of any strike rules. Still, the timing of his booking seems odd, as other actors have avoided similarly high-profile media appearances. Of course, this could all become a moot point if SAG-AFTRA and the studios reach a deal sometime in the next two weeks.

As for boygenius, they’ll be making their SNL debut. Band member Phoebe Bridgers previously played the show as a solo artist in February 2021. The trio of Bridgers, Lucy Dacus, and Julien Baker recently wrapped up a lengthy tour in support of their debut album, the record. Earlier this month, they released a companion EP called the rest.
