Katsuhiro Otomo, the creator of Akira, is working on a new manga. The artist took to X to share a photo of his whiteboard full of doodles.
Among them was a drawing of the character Kiyoko, one of the three Elders, a group of prophetic children who possess psychic powers. “I had a dream Otomo-sensei drew a new manga,” is written in Japanese alongside the drawing.
Otomo also captioned his post, “Kiyoko’s prophetic dream will become reality.”

The original Akira manga was serialized in Weekly Shonen Jump between 1982 and 1990 and in the time since, Otomo has become a frequent collaborator of other creators.
In the past five years or so, Otomo has teased in interviews that he’s working on his latest manga but has yet to publish the title.
In other entertainment news, Apple TV+ raised its prices for the second time in one year.
