Toyota has revealed yet another EV concept ahead of the Tokyo Motor Show, an electrified Land Cruiser concept dubbed the “Se.”
The reveal of the Land Cruiser Se follows behind teasers of an electriefed sports car and SUV respectively named the FT-Se and the FT-3e. In comparison, the Land Cruiser Se is a bit more subtle and presents itself in a refined, slightly boxy silhouette.
Basedon official statements, the technical makeup of the Land Cruiser concept departs from its ancestors, primarily due to the fact it was designed for urband driving rather than off-roading. Toyota shared that the car is notably silent and that it also features an impressive high-torque output for performance driving — exact data on these performance aspects have not yet been shared at the time of writing.
As for design, the car’s body adopts a Monocoque (single piece frame) structure, which Toyota says can help the car cope with less than ideal roads, still maintaining a semblance of its original use and design as a rugged and durable vehicle.
While the exterior desing is meant to nod to the silhouette of the classic Land Cruiser, it sees some notable updates, including slight rounding at the front and back, a slopped roof, closed grille, horizontal strip lights and modernized mirrors.
Interior details have not been shared at the time of writing but with the Tokyo Motor Show a day away, we’re expecting to see more from the automaker soon.
