UK rap star Stormzy has opened applications for year two of the #Merky FC program, with 50 jobs within the football industry up for grabs.
Big Mike launched his #Merky FC program last year as a way to address the lack of Black people being represented in the football industry. Applications were open to young Black people in the UK interested in breaking into the football industry behind the scenes, as opposed to playing on the pitch.
The first year of Stormzy’s initiative went down as a major success, with 15 applicants securing job placements at partner companies in different areas of the football industry; such as content creation, marketing, sales, and more.
Now, the second year of the foundation has seen the number of roles available more than triple, with 50 career opportunities at media mavens, agencies, and major clubs being made available through #Merky FC.
A collection of partners from last year have returned to offer opportunities, whilst a slew of big players in the industry such as Arsenal FC, EA Sports, and ITV have joined the roster.
Applications are open to young Black people between the ages of 18 and 24 now on the #Merky FC website and in other sports news, the UK and the Republic of Ireland are set to host Euro 2028.
