It’s no secret that the launch of CD Projekt Red’s (CDPR) Cyberpunk 2077 did not go according to plan. The much-anticipated title was slated to be 2020’s gaming launch of the year with a slew of collaborations from the likes of adidas and Samsung before it even released. It didn’t take long for the turbulent launch to lead to the studio taking action with an official apology and refocusing of development. However, with the launch of its award-winning anime themed around the world — Cyberpunk: Edgerunners — a massive spike in growth for the game took place. Realizing that the game had undergone significant updates to improve performance and gameplay, gamers were pleasantly surprised by the title and its DLC launch last week serves as the latest milestone for the team.
Now, CDPR has announced that a collaboration between itself and Anonymous Content is in place to bring the world of Cyberpunk 2077 to a live-action series. Entertainment company Anonymous Content is known for producing series such as True Detective and films such as The Revenant and is expanding its current projects by collaborating with CDPR. In a press statement about the project, CDPR shared that “The new project is at an early development stage and has currently commenced searching for a screenwriter to tell a brand-new story set in the world of Cyberpunk 2077.” With this in mind, fans can expect a fresh take on the franchise with room for it to nod to both Cyberpunk 2077 and Cyberpunk: Edgerunners.
