PAM Club: Ka-raba's rave incantations

Driven by a passion for DJing for the past 4 years, Ka-raba channels the rave spirit of electronic music from Africa and the diaspora in a lively PAM Club!

With Nigerian and Filipino roots, Katie aka Ka-raba grew up in contact with Afro-pop and highlife. It was her DJ father who implicitly passed on this passion and influenced her early days on the turntables, with Afrobeats and South African house as her first weapons. Tired of seeing only white men organizing and mixing at the Afrobeats parties in her hometown of Basel, Switzerland, Ka-raba decided to start mixing, above all for reasons of cultural representation. She was soon hooked and discovered an immediate talent, catalyzed by the possibilities offered through the exercise as an authentic means of expression. Beyond music, Ka-raba appreciates the community spirit it generates, creating spaces of freedom and inclusion. Largely influenced by artists from the African diaspora and the continent such as OK Williams and Tygapaw, this active member of the Okra collective favours connections between genres, relying on pillars such as gqom, which drives her both physically and spiritually. This PAM Club, which plays with riddims and drums, is the calling card of a promising Swiss artist eager to make new artistic connections!
