Romy Will Take Her Debut Solo LP on the Road With ‘Club Mid Air’ Tour

Fresh off the heels of her debut solo album, Mid Air, Romy is gearing up to hit the road. The DJ and producer, who is best known for being one-third of The xx, has announced the international “Club Mid Air” tour.

Romy will leave her native UK to play live shows across Europe, starting with Paris on November 9. From there, she’ll make stops in Amsterdam, Brussels, Stockholm, Berlin and London.

On December 1, the artist will make her way over to Los Angeles to kick off a series of stateside stops, with later performances in San Francisco, Chicago, Toronto and New York.

The electronic dance-ready Mid Air LP arrived earlier this month on September 8, seeing Romy team up with collaborators such as Fred again.. and Stuart Price, along with her wife, director Vic Lentaigne for visuals. Romy cited the intimate environment of a queer nightclub as a driving inspiration for the project.

“The music I first heard when I went to queer clubs as a teenager is a huge inspiration for this album: big, bold emotional pop dance songs. In that queer space, pop was being appreciated and celebrated without any cynicism and irony,” she told Hypebeast in a recent interview.

“This is something I really still connect to now. Lyrically, it was important to me to be open and honest about my relationship without any shame. When I was writing I was thinking about myself as a teenager and how much it meant to me when I felt lyrically represented in music, which didn’t happen that often. Hopefully the songs can provide more representation and visibility and another queer storyline for other queer people to connect to.”

Tickets for Romy’s Club Mid Air tour go on sale beginning Tuesday, September 19, on her official website.

In other music news, UK drill stars Headie One and K-Trap announced a joint mixtape.
