“World Best”: Patoranking’s Celebration of African Music

Nigerian music sensation Patoranking, renowned for his fusion of Afrobeats, dancehall, and reggae, has just released his highly anticipated fourth studio album, World Best. With a massive fan base of over 8.8 million followers on Instagram alone and a track record of success, including over 500 million YouTube views and a quarter of a billion DSP streams for his 2020 album Three, Patoranking has earned his moniker as the World Best.

Driven by themes of love, life, and conscious lyricism, World Best is a modern culmination of Patoranking’s genre blending that features an array of international and African collaborators, including American hip-hop legend Ludacris, dancehall icon Beenie Man, and Kingston’s Popcaan, among others. African stars Kizz Daniel, Diamond Platnumz, Victony, Gyakie, and Zion Foster also contribute their talents to Patoranking’s musical journey. The album showcases a wide range of production styles, from lush instrumentation to synthesised beats, courtesy of an all-star cast of African producers, including Phantom, Kel P, Killertunes, C-Tea, Mix Master Garzy, and more.

Patoranking describes the album as celebrating African music, “Africa is now. I always say I’m blessed that this is happening in my generation, and I’m glad to be a part of this history.”

Several tracks from the album, such as Kolo Kolo, Abobi, Higher, and Tonight, have already garnered millions of views on YouTube and received critical acclaim. Notable collaborations include Miracle Baby with Ludacris, the smitten anthem Gyal Like You featuring Kizz Daniel, and the sultry Women of the Year featuring Zion Foster. Amazing Grace features the self-crowned King of the Dancehall, Beenie Man. At the same time, Control Me includes the fast-rising Ghanaian songstress Gyakie.

Babylon stands out as a hypnotic wonder, featuring one of Nigeria’s emerging talents, Victony. The album is a testament to Patoranking’s versatility and ability to blend various musical styles seamlessly.
