Snapchat Launches Immersive Generative AI Feature ‘Dreams’

Snapchat Launches Immersive Generative AI Feature ‘Dreams’

Snapchat first began integrating AI into the app with its own take on the chatbot, called My AI. Following that release in May, the platform is continuing to expand into AI, now launching a new feature called Dreams.

Those who make use of Snapchat’s AR effects and filters may be excited to play around with Dreams, a generative AI tool designed to take selfies to the next level. The feature can be found within Snapchat’s “memories” tab and will prompt a user to take photos of their face at various angles.

After snapping the pics, Dreams will produce eight AI-generated images of the user in various scenarios centered around a given theme, such as “alternate universes.” Dreams will be offered in both free and unpaid versions. New users will get a single free pack of eight Dreams, while Snapchat+ subscribers will get one new pack per month. The app plans to update Dreams regularly to continuously introduce new themes into the mix.

Dreams is reserved for solo selfies at the moment, but future updates will allow users to create images that also showcase their friends.

Right now, Dreams has only launched in Australia and New Zealand, though it’s expected to arrive in other countries soon.

In other tech news, Bang & Olufsen teamed up with Ferrari to introduce a new range.
