Basketball legend Michael Jordan has officially weighed in on the debate of who he thinks is the best point guard in the history of the NBA. Recently, Golden State Warriors’ Steph Curry self-proclaimed that he is the best point guard in NBA history in a podcast with Gilbert Arenas. Later ESPN‘s Stephen A. Smith added his two cents, backing Curry that he is better than Magic Johnson.
Earlier this week, Smith revealed on First Take that Jordan texted him to share his thoughts on the matter. As per Smith, Jordan texted him, “Although greatest of anything is always a debate, I beg to differ on greatest point guard of all-time… Magic Johnson is easily the best point guard of all time. Steph Curry is very close, but not in front of Magic.” While Jordan does not think Curry is better than Johnson, he does give him the nod of being the best-shooter ever. Jordan wrote that Johnson “invented the triple-double” and currently holds five NBA titles, which is one more than Curry.
Fans also weighed in after Jordan’s comments with many saying that the legend has spoken. Johnson and Jordan’s careers overlapped when the two shared the court on the 1992 “Dream Team” for USA Basketball. Watch what Curry had to say in the podcast and Smith’s reveal of Jordan’s thoughts below.
