Any scene from Jurassic Park with raptors or the T. rex is just as terrifying today as it was 30 years ago. Later this month, moviegoers will have the opportunity to experience the terror in 3D when the film gets re-released in RealD 3D-equipped theaters across North America beginning August 25th.
Tickets are now on sale for the 3D-only release here. Jurassic Park was converted to 3D in 2013 for its 20th anniversary, literally adding a new dimension to the groundbreaking animatronic and CGI dinosaurs. This writer walked away from the theater impressed by the quality, despite going in skeptical about how it would look.
The original Jurassic Park movie was directed by Steven Spielberg and based on Michael Crichton’s 1990 novel of the same name. It stars Sam Neill and Laura Dern as paleontologists Alan Grant and Ellie Sattler, who take a tour of the island theme park created with cloned dinosaurs from prehistoric DNA alongside mathematician Ian Malcolm (Jeff Goldblum). Though its billionaire founder John Hammond (Richard Attenborough) assures them of the park’s safety, nature predictably runs its course and the dinosaurs take control.
