As Talk To Me continues to dominate the box office – having already surpassed $10 million this weekend – A24 has unveiled an upcoming venture that is unlike anything we’ve seen before from the production company. Dicks: The Musical is A24’s first film-musical, and the trailer features a star-studded cast of characters including Megan Thee Stallion and Bowen Yang alongside the film’s writers Aaron Jackson and Josh Sharp.
Jackson and Sharp star as the film’s main characters, long-lost twin brothers Trevor Brock and Craig Tiddle, respectively. Nathan Lane and Megan Mullally are the twins’ divorced parents, whom the twins spend the film plotting to reunite and then dealing with the consequences.
The brothers, both businessmen, work for “lady boss” Megan Thee Stallion, who upon seeing the two stand side-by-side, immediately pronounces that “[them] two motherf*ckers look like [they] could be twins.” “Wow. We’re twins. We’re f*cking identical twins,” the brothers monotonously exclaim upon making the connection. While the movie-musical takes a darkly comedic tone, Megan brings her lyrical candor to the two-minute trailer with a snippet of a mid-office performance that leaves the twins stunned.
Dicks: The Musical will blend high-caliber comedy with high-caliber music, as Larry Charles of Seinfeld and Borat served as the film’s director, alongside the producers from The Greatest Showman. Yang, another comedic icon most notably known for his work on Saturday Night Live, plays God. Check out the full trailer above.
Dicks: The Musical is slated to open in theaters on September 29. The production company also has Problemista and Priscilla hitting the big screen soon, as well as The Iron Claw later in the year.
Elsewhere in entertainment, the final season of Netflix’s Disenchantment will air in September.
