Following the release of his third studio album, Beautiful and Brutal Yard, UK rapper J Hus has just performed one of the album’s highlights, “Massacre,” for A COLORS SHOW.
Since J Hus announced the roll-out of his new project earlier this year, the UK — and the rest of the world — were chomping at the bit to hear what the Hustla Baby had in store. Now, with the project out in its entirety, it’s already being regarded as a modern-day classic, with the East London rapper continuing to build one of the most impressive discographies in UK rap history.
The record gave a full account of what Hus is capable of, offering fresh takes on already-existing genres such as Afrobeats, grime, and drill. And while Hus was more than capable of producing a five-star record on his own, the stellar list of features on the record also gave a clear representation of his respect and appreciation from his peers in the music scene.
For example, Drake provided a verse on the record of the previously-released “Who Told You,” while Jorja Smith, Burna Boy, and Popcaan also blessed the album with fresh material. Most impressively, though, was the introduction of fellow UK rapper CB on “Cream,” with J Hus providing a global platform for one of the UK’s most respected road rappers.
However, amongst the features, one of the album highlights came in the form of “Massacre,” which is the album-opener on the new record. It gives a glimpse into what’s in store for the rest of the project, with his signature style and infectious charisma taking control of the stage for one of the best COLORS performances seen in recent times.
