New York rapper Casanova has been sentenced to more than 15 years in federal prison after pleading guilty to charges of federal racketeering and conspiracy to distribute narcotics.
Casanova, whose real name is Caswell Senior, entered a guilty plea in a New York court in May 2022. Prosecutors accused the rapper of being a leader of the Untouchable Gorilla Stone Nation Bloods Gang.
He had additionally been accused of attempted murder and assault with a weapon, though those charges were later dropped, according to Casanova’s lawyer James Kousouros.
In addition to a sentence of 188 months in prison, Casanova will be required to forfeit $50,000 USD. Once he gets out, he’ll be subject to four years of supervised release.
“While we advocated for a sentence below the guidelines, we were gratified that the Court sentenced Mr. Senior at the lowest end of the guidelines especially given the other sentences imposed in this case. Mr. Senior accepted responsibility for his conduct and is committed to moving forward with his positive message and with the loving support of his friends and family,” Kousouros told Pitchfork in a statement.
