Rising London rapper and producer Ragz Originale has released his debut studio album, Bare Sugar. The 14-track project follows his 2021 EP WOAH and a series of singles, including a COLORS live show of the song “troublin.”
On the album, Originale demonstrates his ability to not only deliver smooth bars and vibe-heavy R&B-style vocals, effortlessly switching between the two, but also flexes his production skills. Each track holds a different lens up to the artist’s versatile capabilities, encompassing indie, electronic, jazz and rap sounds and beats.
“With this album it was important for me to dive even deeper into myself, it’s probably the most honest sound I’ve ever made,” he described the project. “I had to block out all the noise, it wasn’t easy but I didn’t see my career elevating unless the sound did. On planet Earth, we call this ‘Excessive Luxury Sound’. A gift that keeps giving, use it to heal, elevate & free yourself. You’re very welcome.”
Bare Sugar also taps some exciting names in the UK music industry. Bakar, 24hoursav, and Dua Saleh all make appearances on the album. There are also guest features from the renowned Sampha, alongside Knucks, LOLA and John Glacier.
