BMW's Shapeshifting GINA Concept Is Revisited in New Walkaround Video

Supercar Blondie has released a new walkaround video that explores BMW‘s GINA Light Visionary Model, a concept released 15 years ago. The shapeshifting idea was ahead of its time and served as a precursor to the automaker’s newer mutating concepts including the Vision Next 100 and iX Flow.

Based on features from the Z8 and original Z4, BMW wraps the car in an elastic polyurethane material that hides the articulated lines and supports underneath. In the demonstration video, we see a secret retractable hood and headlights as well as moving spoilers and side skirts. The rear reveals natural carbon fiber pieces as well as a seamless transition from the exterior fabric to the interior seats. GINA stands for Geometry and Functions In Adaptions and the car is fully functional.
