Samsung is gearing up to put out the “world’s first 49-inch OLED gaming monitor.” The Odyssey G9 follows up the G8, which packs a comparably smaller punch at just 34 inches.
Boasting a with a 1800R curvature, photos of the Odyssey G9 show the monitor essentially encasing its user for an immersive gaming experience. A 32:9 ratio makes the monitor ideal for most games. It’s an ultra-wide view, similar to placing two screens side by side.
Samsung is angling the monitor toward competitive gamers or those who simply love extremely fast-paced action titles. The Odyssey G9 has a response time of 0.03ms and a 240Hz refresh rate.
“The Odyssey OLED G9 delivers a premium, super-ultrawide gaming experience that puts it in a class of its own – raising the bar for OLED monitors,” said James Fishler, Samsung’s Senior Vice President of Home Entertainment & Display Division.
Unsurprisingly, a gaming monitor that large doesn’t come for cheap. The Odyssey G9 is available for pre-order at $2,199 USD, expected to ship out later this month.
