Harry Styles stuns fans at Slane

Pop icon Harry Styles wowed 80,000 fans at Slane Castle, Co Meath on Saturday night.

The global superstar is currently embarking on the European leg of his worldwide Love on Tour, with his next stop being Wembley Stadium in London, where he will perform for four nights.

The 29-year old last played Ireland in June 2022 at Dublin’s Aviva Stadium, so his legions of Irish fans were delighted at the chance to see the Watermelon Sugar singer perform live again so soon.

The singer, known for his fun and colourful style, rocked a sequinned green and silver bomber jacket and white flared trousers.

Rain couldn’t dampen fans’ spirits as Styles opened his set with Daydreaming, before giving rousing performances of hits including As It Was, Adore You, Sign of the Times, Treat People with Kindness, and One Direction’s hit, Stockholm Syndrome.

Styles even spoke some Irish during the gig, including “Céad míle fáilte” [meaning “Welcome”], “Conas atá tú?” [“How are you?”] and “Go n-éirí an bóthar leat” [“May the road rise to meet you”].

At one stage, he waved a tri-colour flag and wrapped it around his shoulders.

Irish celebs were out in force, including Louise McSharry, Jedward, Norah Casey, and 2fm’s Roz Purcell, Emma Power and Tracy Clifford.

Fans were effusive in their praise of the gig on Twitter, with one fan, GraicyG, writing, “I’ll never stop saying this but for Harry Styles to do 80k, 90k, 100k capacity on his tour #LoveOnTour with clean discography 37 tracks, no collabs, no multiple versions, no remixes, no choreography… just him & his mic is iconic. Really a legend of this generation.”

The gig was the first Slane Castle since Metallica played in 2019 and the first post-pandemic concert at the venue.
