Steven Harrington has announced the release of his latest editioned screenprint: Self. Featuring the artist’s signature Melo character observing a separate — and particularly psychedelic — painting, Self draws from one of Harrington’s pieces that was on display at the MIMA Museum of Art in Brussels as part of ZOO, a 2020 exhibition that placed him alongside contemporaries like Parra and Todd James while aiming to “explore anthropomorphism in relation to pop culture and emerging media.”
The Self screenprint measures 32 inches wide and 40 inches tall, and was hand-printed on 320gsm Coventry Rag paper with deckled edges using a combination of 12 custom colors plus glossy black ink. It’s limited to 120 units, each of which is signed, numbered and accompanied by a certificate of authenticity. Self isn’t an open edition either. “Once it’s sold out, it’ll never be reproduced,” Harrington notes.
Expect Self to release via Harrington’s webstore on Friday, June 2 at 10 AM PST. Members of Harrington’s email list have been granted early access to the print, and if you’re interested in receiving early access to future releases you can join the list here as well.
