Cautious Clay Pays Homage to His Home State on New Single “Ohio”

Cautious Clay Pays Homage to His Home State on New Single “Ohio”

Cautious Clay has released his first single under his new label deal, having recently signed with Blue Note Records. The track is called “Ohio,” hearing the Cleveland-born indie pop singer pay tribute to his home state.

On the song, Clay, whose real name is Joshua Karpeh, takes on the perspective of a younger version of himself. Over a 70s-style beat, the singer muses on being at a point at his life where he has limitless potential and endless options as to where to go next.

“I took a stroll through the highlands / I took a chance on the mindless,” he sings. “Chasing a closed loop / Hoping through free throws in my mind.”

“Ohio” also happens to be the lead single from Clay’s first album to be released via Blue Note. The project, which is currently untitled, will follow his debut LP, 2021’s Deadpan Love.
