Just a few months after releasing his fifth studio album Let’s Start Here to critical acclaim, Lil Yachty has dropped a new single. While his LP saw Yachty delve into psychedelic, ‘70s-inspired rock, the song, called “Strike (Holster),” marks somewhat of a return to the Soundcloud rap sound.
Out via Quality Control Music and Motown Records, the track was first teased earlier this week by Lyrical Lemonade’s Cole Bennett, who Yachty had worked with on a music video. The rapper himself followed up, sharing the song’s cover art to his social media.
“You know that sh*t look real when you already do,” he raps. “You know the guys sip on drank ’til it’s early, yeah / All this Bottega sh*t I shop at, Berlin just did.”
