Watch: Deepika goes for workout just before her Oscar 2023 outing - The Indian Express

Trust Deepika Padukone to not only give us fashion goals but also fitness and workout inspiration. The same was visible recently when the Pathaan actor went for a workout session with Pilates trainer Yasmin Karachiwala just before her big and much-talked-about appearance as a presenter on the champagne-coloured carpet at the 95th Academy Awards that took place at the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles, United States.

Her trainer Karachiwala took to Instagram to pen a note on the 37-year-old’s fitness commitment.

Oscars ke pehle workout toh banta hain na? (Just before the Oscars, at least a workout is essential, right?) Sharing a glimpse into @deepikapadukone‘s 6:30 am workout before getting ready for the Oscars. The secret to her gorgeousness besides her genes is also her discipline, dedication, and commitment to maintaining a balanced lifestyle. Don’t you agree?” mentioned Karachiwala, who also shared that it was an “amazing journey” to train her for the #oscars.

She can be seen working out on the Pilates reformer.

The far and few glimpses of her workouts show that Deepika practises a mix of workouts including cardio, Pilates, yoga, and badminton.

How important is it to work out?

Experts suggest that early morning workouts help elevate the levels of endorphins or ‘happy hormones’. These hormones which are released post-workout in the morning keep the mood better throughout the day and make the day more productive by improving focus, alertness, energy and decision-making, said registered dietitian Garima Goyal.

Morning workouts also help build consistency and improve circadian rhythm as the body will automatically begin to become more active in the daytime and will feel tired by the end of the day, thus maintaining the circadian cycle.

Exercising on an empty stomach in a fasted state helps to burn more fat than when in a fed state. “This happens because the body uses the fat stores to get fuel for exercise in the morning. However, after a meal, the body uses that food as an energy source,” Goyal mentioned.

Are morning workouts better?

If someone mostly has a tight schedule, it is better to get the workout done first thing in the morning. However, it does not mean that working out at the end of the busy day is wrong.

“It all depends on the preferences. One should train when he/she feels the best energy-wise. However, as per the circadian rhythm and incase everything is favorable in your routine, it is better to train in the early evening roughly between 4-6pm as the TC ratio (testosterone to cortisol ratio) is highest,” shared Rachit Dua, co-founder, Fitpathshala.
