Disney has released the full official trailer of its upcoming live-action take on The Little Mermaid, starring Halle Bailey as Ariel.
Premiered during the 2023 Oscars, the two-minute trailer begins in a dramatic fashion that sees Prince Eric (Jonah Hauer-King) and his crew abandon ship during a deadly storm. Much like the original 1989 animated film, Bailey’s Ariel saves him, falls in love with him and makes a deal with Ursula (Melissa McCarthy) to become human. The plan soon goes wrong, however, and puts both Ariel’s life and her father King Triton’s crown in jeopardy.
Joining Bailey, Hauer-King and McCarthy in the main cast are Javier Bardem as King Triton, Art Malik as Grimsby, Noma Dumezweni as Queen Selina, a new character, Daveed Diggs as Sebastian, Jacob Tremblay as Flounder and Awkwafina as Scuttle.
