I’m a frequent solo traveler, but I’ve made some mistakes, which compromised my own safety over the years. It’s an unfortunate truth that women traveling alone need to be more vigilant when using taxi and ride-share services; we can be taken advantage of by unscrupulous grifters. This happened to me a few years ago during my first trip to New York City.
