Kali Uchis has returned with the second single from her forthcoming album, Red Moon In Venus. Titled “Moonlight,” the track, which was co-produced by Benny Blanco, Cashmere Cat and Leon Michels, follows the record’s lead single, “I Wish You Roses,” which was released last month.
The newly-released song endures a musical rollercoaster — one that begins with a snare drum and an orchestral tremolo before rolling atop a reverb-controlled beat. In a light falsetto, Uchis mixes her lyrics between English and Spanish, referencing her family roots.
“There’s nothing like peace of mind / And you take the time and make sure that I’m okay,” Uchis sings on the track. “I know it can put stress on your brain / But you always go out your way / To show me that I’m your priority.”
Red Moon In Venus includes a total of 15 tracks, with features from Summer Walker, Omar Apollo and Don Toliver. The album is scheduled to release on March 3 via Geffen Records.
On the forthcoming record, Uchis said, “Love is the message. Red Moon In Venus is a timeless, burning expression of desire, heartbreak, faith, and honesty, reflecting the divine femininity of the moon and Venus.”
