A week out from the release of Creed III, some lucky audience members have had a chance to see the film and review the third installment of the franchise. Early reactions to the upcoming directorial debut for Michael B. Jordan are quite positive.
The third film in the franchise chronicles Adonis’ relationship with his family after dominating the boxing world. Thriving in both his career and personal life, Adonis is then visited by his long-time childhood friend and forming boxing prodigy Damian. Played by Jonathan Majors, Damian resurfaces after serving a long sentence in prison, wanting to prove he also deserves a shot in the ring. The former friends face off and Adonis settles the score once and for all, putting his future on the one to go against someone who has nothing to lose.
Initial reviews from critics and fans call the film a great jumping-off point for Jordan’s directorial debut. Many game him the two thumbs up for his ability to tell the story as both a director and an actor. One said called it a “great directorial debut by Michael B Jordan, coupled by amazing performances by [Tessa] Thompson and the scene stealer Jonathan Majors.” Another critic calls Jordan directorial efforts an “admirable job,” while big praises on the film’s sequences for the finale film of the Creed trilogy were heard all around.
Take a look at some of the initial reactions below.
#Creed3 is solid enough. Especially dug exploring this particular stage of Adonis’ career/life. Loved the addition of Mila Davis-Kent and, my god, Jonathan Majors is ferocious. Haven’t seen Ant-Man yet but going from seeing him in Magazine Dreams to this is really something else. pic.twitter.com/QSK2B8b5yy

Michael B. Jordan, in his directorial debut, does an admirable job directing CREED 3. His performance though ranks among his best & the IMAX-shot boxing scenes are distinctively awesome. Jonathan Majors brings raw power & charisma to a personal story of two friends turned enemies pic.twitter.com/TV7REfEhuf

#Creed3 is fantastic. You FEEL those punches during the fight scenes. Some really beautiful shots. One major beat had people in my crowded screening sniffling (I teared up). Jonathan Majors is sweeping the competition this spring at theaters. A GREAT directorial debut for MBJ. pic.twitter.com/KidycFDkRH

#Creed3 is AMAZING! @michaelb4jordan delivers a solid feature on his directorial debut. Final fight is precisely edited. #JonathanMajors gives a great perfomance, but the MVP goes to Mila Davis-Kent, she’s adorable & brings a lot of heart to the film! @creedmovie pic.twitter.com/VYShhpkiFF

Creed 3 is an intense emotional journey. Great directorial debut by Michael B Jordan, coupled by amazing performances by both Thompson and the scene stealer Jonathan Majors. Fight scenes are awesome. Few times I was wondering where Rocky was but it never took away from the story.

#Creed3 has every ounce of emotion and action required to satisfy fans. Michael B. Jordan excels behind the camera, directing one of most expertly-crafted fight sequences ever. I wanted even more of Jonathan Majors, who OWNS the screen-time he gets… All in all, it’s a winner! pic.twitter.com/1sqAciyJVq
