Following a staggering $39,339.60 USD sale, LCG Auctions is back with yet another monumental sale of an unopened First Generation Apple iPhone. Despite a starting bid of $2,500 USD, the auction was predicted to pull in $50,000 or more and finished with a total sale price of $63,356.40 USD. The auction now stands as the highest amount a First Generation Apple iPhone has ever been sold out.
The auction opened on February 2 and closed on February 19 came courtesy of Karen Green, a cosmetic tattoo artist in New Jersey. Green received the iPhone as a gift but never opened the device as she was tied to a Verizon contrast that was not available to iPhones. Already considering selling the phone for a few years, Green contacted LCG Auctions following the auction house’s previous sale. Sharing that she will be using the earnings from the sale of the unopened First Generation Apple iPhone to fund her cosmetic tattoo studio.
Introduced by the late Steve Jobs back in 2007, the original Apple iPhone was sold for $599 USD and came in 4GB or 8GB memory options with a 2-megapixel camera and 3.5-inch screen.
