Can we all take a moment to appreciate Nicola Coughlan‘s custom-made Christopher Kane dress? The “Bridgerton” star stepped out wearing the piece of “PVC perfection”, as she described it on her Instagram post, to pick up the best newcomer award at the Newport Beach Film Festival on 16 Feb. While the Irish actor has a history of nailing red carpet looks (like the blue ruffled tulle dress for the Tiffany & Co anniversary or her Barbie-core BAFTA gown), this latest look feels like a new direction for Coughlan — and we are here for it.
Styled by Aimée Croysdill, the black patent midi dress had a flattering fit and flare shape which came complete with white tulle shoulder detail. She added platform Jimmy Choo heels and Tasaki jewellery to complete the look. Neil Young gave the actor a peach smokey eye and used the Mac Retro Matt Liquid Lipstick in Gemz and Roses to give a hint of subtly sexy colour to the monochrome look, while Patrick Wilson kept her hair in a middle parting, and left it loose with a slightly textured finish to complement the fetish formalwear.
Coughlan, who has been filming season 3 of “Bridgerton“, rubbed shoulders with an array of the standout talent at the awards, which took place at The Londoner hotel. Aimee Lou Wood glistened in a green sequin Valentino gown as she won the breakout award for her performance in “Living”, while Oscar nominee Paul Mescal, “I Wanna Dance With Somebody”‘s Naomi Ackie, and “Black Panther: Wakanda Forever”‘s Letitia Wright were all recognised as artists of distinction. Read ahead to see more of Coughlan’s latex look, and the other red carpet outfits from the evening.
