Netflix has officially announced a Pornhub documentary, Money Shot: The Pornhub Story. The documentary explores the successes and scandals of the popular porn site.
Releasing next month, the 90-minute documentary is produced by Jigsaw Productions. Nicki Carrico serves as the producer and Stacey Offman and Richard Perello will executive produce. The film follows how Pornhub changed how pornography was distributed and consumed. While it changed the industry, it also led to misuse of the platform which became a stage of trafficking. The film synopsis continues, “This enabled erotic content creators to reach a massive audience while the company made billions of dollars – but it also became embroiled in allegations including non-consensual material and trafficking on the site. As anti-trafficking organizations seek justice for victims, can the online giant protect those from whom they profit, or is this a new wave of censorship for adult performers making consensual porn?”
Producer Suzanne Hillinger discusses the aim of the film, hoping that the documentary will give viewers an inside look at how the billion-dollar internet platforms work, “Our hope is that this film generates important conversations about sex and consent, both on the internet and out in the world.”
Money Shot: The Pornhub Story is available on Neftlix starting March 15.
