According to a report from Trademark attorney Josh Gerben, Giannis Antetokounmpo has filed three new trademarks based off his “Greek Freak” nickname at the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office.
The names of the trademarks include “STAY FR34KY,” “FR34K SHOW,” and “UNSEEN FR34KY HOURS” covering a wide gamut of products including wet suits, face masks, lanyards, backpacks, clothing, stress relief balls, sports water bottles and more. Since entering the league, Antetokounmpo has embraced his “Freak” moniker, launching the fourth iteration of his signature shoe, the Nike Zoom Freak 4 last year. These new trademarks are believed to be independent of Nike.
Having become one the NBA‘s biggest stars, Antetokounmpo has been active in protecting his existing intellectual property with 13 trademark infringement lawsuits already against people using his name and image. With a wide range of options to choose from, it’s yet to be seen what the new trademarks will be used for.
