Coldplay appeared as the musical guest on last night’s episode of Saturday Night Live, hosted by Pedro Pascal. The Chris Martin-led band began with an English-language performance of “The Astronaut,” which they co-wrote BTS‘ Jin, before playing a mix of Music of Spheres‘ “Human Heart” and X&Y‘s “Fix You.”
The set marked the band’s eighth appearance on the show, following their most recent appearance in 2019 when they performed “Orphans” and “Everyday Life.” Coldplay first shot to stardom in 2000, with their album Parachutes. Since then, Coldplay has released eight additional full-length projects, including A Rush of Blood to the Head, Viva la Vida or Death and All His Friends, Mylo Xyloto and Music of the Spheres.
Coldplay is nominated for three awards at the 2023 Grammys, which are scheduled to take place on Sunday, February 5, in Los Angeles. The band’s most recent album, Music of the Spheres, is nominated for both Album of the Year and Best Pop Vocal Album. Meanwhile, the group’s BTS collaboration, titled “My Universe,” is in the running for Best Pop Duo/Group Performance.
