A previously unreleased Sparklehorse song titled “It Will Never Stop” is now seing the light of day. It was unearthed by Matt Linkous, the brother of the late Mark Linkous, while overseeing the songwriter’s estate and archiving his recordings. Listen to it below.
“Great care has been taken to archive and preserve Mark’s music,” Matt Linkous said in a statement. “We are very thankful for Mark and the beauty he brought to this world.”
A new feature-length documentary about the music of the late Mark Linkous, titled This Is Sparklehorse, was released on Vimeo in October. It was made by was made by UK filmmakers Alex Crowton and Bobby Dass of Bo-Ho Films, and features David Lynch, Grandaddy’s Jason Lytle, Metric’s Emily Haines, Portishead’s Adrian Utley, and more.
Linkous released his first Sparklehorse album, Vivadixiesubmarinetransmissionplot, back in 1995. In March 2010, Linkous died by suicide at the age of 47. Just a few months later, the collaborative and final Sparklehorse album, Dark Night of the Soul, was released. In 2019, Danger Mouse shared the song “Ninjarous” featuring Sparklehorse, MF Doom, and the Black Keys’ Patrick Carney.
