Pedro Pedro is a Los Angeles-based artist who brings the traditional genre of still-life into the present day. While all the usual visuals are there, chalices of wine, flowers and so on, Pedro somewhat parodies the whole genre by including mundane objects like car keys and a dilapidated wallet to reflect the anxieties of contemporaneity.
In conjunction with Detroit gallery Louis Buhl & Co., Pedro has released a new screen print entitled, Sunglasses, Shirts, Sneakers, Wallet and Watches. Each of the items in the title are jumbled together in a chaotic medley that is both satisfying in color and composition.
“The paintings take on their own life, outside of my everyday encounters with the objects depicted,” the artist said in a statement.
Sunglasses, Shirts, Sneakers, Wallet and Watches is a 30-color hand-pulled screen print on Mohawk Superfine UltraWhite, 160 Cover paper. Sizing in at 22 x 30 inches, the print is limited to an edition of 45, comes signed and numbered by the artist and is available to purchase for $750 USD.
