Chrissy Teigen has “quite a story” to tell about her surprise pregnancy.
One day after revealing she and husband John Legend are expecting their third child, the 34-year-old model and author opened up about how she discovered her latest pregnancy after a breast implant removal surgery in early June.
On Friday night (Aug. 14), one of Teigen’s 13 million Twitter followers asked if she knew she was pregnant before going into surgery. “Oh, it’s quite a story. Lol,” Teigen responded before setting the record straight on the timeline.
“I did the routine pregnancy test you do before surgery. It said negative. It was not negative,” Teigen tweeted, adding that she took another test, this time with positive results, on June 19, the same day Legend released his new album, Bigger Love.
“So the morning of John’s album release, he wakes up at 3am to do good morning america. I woke up with him and was like man, should take my monthly test to be disappointed,” she continued. “I was not disappointed. But I was scared sh–less. Was pretty positive you shouldn’t get your boobs out while pregnant? Pretty sure.”
After learning about the surprise pregnancy, Teigen and Legend “prayed to the boob surgery gods that everything would be okay. Went to every appointment terrified. Even without the surgery, I didn’t think I could get pregnant naturally anyway. So the odds just felt…bad,” she tweeted.
The couple’s two previous children, 4-year-old daughter Luna and 2-year-old son Miles, were conceived through in vitro fertilization.
Teigen concluded her post, writing, “But what they say so often can be true. When you give up on trying, life has a way of surprising you. In summary, my boobs hurt.”
Earlier this week, Teigen and Legend revealed the surprise pregnancy by showing off Teigen’s pregnant belly in the singer’s new “Wild” video. She has also taken to social media in recent days to give fans a proper peek at her baby bump.
