Queen Release Unearthed Song Featuring Freddie Mercury: Listen

Queen have unearthed a rare unreleased song with Freddie Mercury vocals. The band recorded “Face It Alone” during sessions for 1989’s The Miracle, which is being reissued on November 18. The song had been forgotten by the band and was believed lost, according to the band’s interview with BBC Radio 2, where the track premiered. Listen to “Face It Alone” below.

“It was kind of hiding in plain sight,” Brian May told Radio 2’s Zoe Ball. “We looked at it many times and thought, oh no, we can’t really rescue that. But in fact, we went in there again and our wonderful engineering team went, okay, we can do this and this. It’s like kind of stitching bits together. But it’s beautiful. It’s touching.”

The reissue of The Miracle—the penultimate album to be released in Mercury’s lifetime—includes The Miracle Sessions, a collection of original takes, demos, and six previously unreleased tracks, including “Face It Alone.” The eight-disc box set, which includes five vinyl LPs, also features songs from a mooted The Miracle follow-up and instrumentals, studio chat, radio interviews, and videos.
