Annie Leibovitz has worked with Phaidon to release a sumptuous new monograph chronicling some of her most iconic shots. As a follow-up to her critically-acclaimed books, Annie Leibovitz: Photographs, 1970-1990 and A Photographer’s Life, 1990-2005, the latest volume takes a deep dive into Leibovitz’ portraiture done between 2005 and 2016.
Known the world over for her intimate and mythical style of portraiture, Leibovitz seeks to capture the unique character in each of her subjects — which have ranged the enigmatic Miles Davis and Keith Haring, fictional icons in R2-D2, to former U.S. president, Barack Obama, and the late-Queen Elizabeth II, amongst others.
Annie Leibovitz: Portraits 2005–2016 spans 316 pages and is packaged in a translucent book cover featuring the title overlaid in a yellow typeface. Phaidon is currently accepting pre-orders for signed copies of the book, which retail for $95 USD on the publisher’s website. The book is expected to start shipping on September 28.
For more on art, a $70m USD MoMA art collection is expected to be sold in order to fund NFT purchases.
