Reservoir Media has signed a go-forward publishing deal with Grammy-nominated producer, songwriter, and trombonist Nick Lee. Perhaps best known for composing the horn melody for Lil Nas X’s “Industry Baby,” featuring Jack Harlow, Lee has also become a go-to collaborator for artists like Megan Thee Stallion, Vince Staples, Dillon Francis, Mustard, Stray Kids, CL, JJ Lin, and more. In addition to working with some of the industry’s coolest stars, Lee also scores network TV shows like NBC’s Grand Crew and Fox’s Welcome to Flatch. Up next, he will be co-composing the Netflix drama The Brothers Sun.
Sony Music Publishing announced a worldwide publishing agreement with songwriter and producer, Nicolas Jaña, artistically known as Taiko. The artist began creating beats at the age of 15, and caught the attention of SMP songwriter, Sky Rompiendo, who signed him to his label Black Koi Entertainment. Over the years, Taiko has produced chart-topping hits for stars such as J Balvin, Bad Bunny, Ozuna, Zion & Lennox and Paloma Mami, among others.
Concord Music Publishing has inked a go-forward publishing deal with Justin Wilson, a hitmaking country singer-songwriter. Over the course of his impressive career, Wilson has written for Morgan Wallen, Blake Shelton, Luke Bryan, Thomas Rhett, Granger Smith, Parmalee, and more. In addition to his work as a songwriter for other talents, Wilson is preparing to release his own EP soon.
Position Music has signed Daphne Willis to a worldwide publishing deal. Willis is both an artist and songwriter, and her collaborations include Dr. Dre, Meghan Trainor, Wyclef Jean, 9AM and John Oates. When she’s not busy writing contemporary hits, she has been a successful writer for brands like Volkswagen, Xfinity/Comcast, and Royal Caribbean and on shows like Empire, Grey’s Anatomy, So You Think You Can Dance, ESPN SportsCenter. Jake Versluis, vp, a&r at Position calls Daphne “a gifted writer with chops in the pop world as well as the synch world” and “an incredible addition to the Position Music roster.”
Black Rock, Sentric Music Group‘s electronic music division, has been named as the administration partner for Adesso Music‘s new publishing operation. Founded by producers Vito Lucente (“Junior Jack”) and Pat BDS, Adesso Music is an Italian-based publisher focused on what is happening “adesso” (translates to “now”) in electronic music. Day to day operations will be handled by Lucente’s manager Geoff Muncey.
Kobalt has signed a publishing administration deal with U.K. producer and mixing engineer Tom Demac. Known for remixing artists like Roisin Murphy, Pet Shop Boys, and Maribou State and working with Jax Jones, Craig David, Supershy (Tom Misch), Rudimental, Paul Woolford and more, Demac said he had “no doubt in [his] mind that Kobalt was the right home” after meeting the team. In addition to the deal, he is managed by Owyn Sidwell of SidexSide Management.
Sony Music Latin has signed 20-year-old Colombian emerging artist, José Domingo Zabaleta Villalobos, aka Jhosy. A native of Cartagena, Jhosy made waves in music with his viral hit single, “Aurora.” “I’m thrilled to join the Sony family, and I’m ecstatic about this next phase of my career,” expressed Jhosy. “I’m fortunate to have an incredible team supporting me, and I’m eager to create music that spreads love and joy.”
