Rod Stewart’s tour Down Under has been pushed back to 2022 due to the health crisis.
The veteran British artist was slated to bring his The Hits! 2020 Tour to Australia this October and November for a run of open-air and arena shows, produced by Live Nation, plus four A Day On the Green winery dates, produced by Roundhouse Entertainment in conjunction with Live Nation.
Due to ongoing travel restrictions, border closures and ongoing limitations on mass gatherings in these parts, nine shows will be rescheduled to take place in March and April 2022. The performance in the capital, Canberra, originally scheduled for Nov. 4, 2020 will not be rescheduled due to scheduling conflicts.
The 75-year-old Grammy winner’s trip Down Under is pushed back as Melbourne, Australia’s second largest city, enters an unprecedented second lockdown following weeks of spiking COVID-19 infections. Typically known as Australia’s culture capital, the streets are now quiet after officials imposed Australia’s toughest-ever pandemic restrictions on the city’s four-million-plus residents.
Stewart has sold more than 250 millions worldwide, according to LN, and has landed four Billboard Hot 100 chart leaders and 16 Top 10s in his decades long career.
His 2019 album release You’re in My Heart: Rod Stewart with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra became his first No. 1 on Billboard’s Classical Albums Chart, and his tenth No. 1 on the Official U.K. Albums Chart.
