After six years, Arca and Shayne Oliver have finally announced their debut album. Under their musical name WENCH, the forthcoming album is titled, Greatest Hits ’88 – ’16.
The now cemented creative duo’s relationship began when Alejandra Rodríguez a.k.a. Arca and Shayne Oliver met at an underground party when Arca was only 17. The duo released their first single “Sick” back in 2016 and now they are presenting a full-fledged project to the world. Featuring 13 tracks, the duo’s debut album blends punk, metal, dystopian and electronic musical styles. With an experimental, yet future-focused cadence, Greatest Hits ’88 – ’16 honors the experiences of queer communities through time.
From Oliver being a member of the legendary House of Ninja as a teenager to Arca forming her own identity as a one-of-a-kind musician, the product of their debut album goes against the status quo. Greatest Hits ’88 – ’16 will be broadcast on NTS Radio on Friday, August 12 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. BT (1:00 p.m. ET to 3:00 p.m. ET).
